Your points are valid and maybe I took your original the comments the wrong way. My bad.
I was actually surprised at their dislike of the Matrix as it is a Toyota but I think to hit the market they wanted, Toyota had to strip out too much. I was very close to buying one but just found the price a wee bit high for what you got. A Mazda3 Sport is a better value IMO.

Also you can get the supercharged, there are two of the m running around like that here, it's basically a TRD option package installed at the dealer level. I love the styling as well, and if the Vibe is any indication of the way the Matrix is, I would pass. I drove a Vibe and was not impressed. I wonder if that has anything to do with why they seem to be dropped by the sport compact scene so quick.

yeah the supercharger option is available but there isnt alot of information available on it. all i know that if its installed by the dealer at time of purchase it gets blanketed under the powertrain warranty which is kinda cool.
i went down to barnes wheaton today just to wander around the lot and took a look at the canyons again. the interior is alot smaller than i remembered so my system idea wont work haha oh well. and then comparing the mileage of then 18mpg on the higway with the colorado, 44 or 48 mpg highway on the vibe. so i guess that pretty much seals it. atleast its a step up from a sunfire

thanks for the 2 cents, first off i hate the ions that center mounted gauge cluster is a$$ and i hated the steering wheel, it may seem like a stupid complaint but i spend alot of time behind the wheel and a comfortable not silly looking wheel is apealing to me. the ion looked like a throw pillow surrounded by a ring. i looked at an ion 2 years ago when i bought my sunfire and prefered the sunfire over the ion.
also the cobalts didnt really tickle my fancy.
and a montecarlo would defeat the purpose of looking for a car with ok gas mileage may aswell buy a used yukon or something but thanks for coming out man
