seat belt problems

The seat belt for the drivers seat doesn't work very well any more. The buckle has lost its ability to keep the belt locked in. It should be possable to fix myself or done very cheaply.
I was hoping to use the buckle from the middle of the rear seat and have managed to remove that already. Just having problems getting the drivers buckle out cause the bolt that keeps it in is very hard to turn. I think its a 3/4" bolt, just in a awkard location.
Car is a 91 Olds Eighty-Eight, front seat is two seperate seats with a fold down center arm rest/storage holder and there is middle seat belt up front but for some reason that buckle doesn't work with the drivers seat belt.
What can I do?

2 things u can do

option 1 - realize that seat belts are way over rated, and try not to have a head on colission.

option 2 - go to your local junk yard and remove the seat belt thing from same or similar vehicle as yours. problem solved. be sure to bring the proper tools

I don't know how to remove the buckel from the drivers seat. Might need a 11/16" wrench that I don't have.
Ok borrowed a buddies wrench set, 11/16 didn't work, too small, 3/4 is too big.
Now it might be a metric sized nut. How many MM is comparable to 11/16 and 3/4?

The idea at the moment is to sacrafice the rear middle seat's buckle for the drivers seat. It does fit unlike the front middle seats buckle.

socket set won't fit in such a tiny space
the metric and SAE wrench's that I have tried don't work and they barely fit
I give up on getting it off myself, will have it looked at by somebody else during the week

- Dremel with a flex shaft and a cut off disk ( lots of disks.)
- Cresent wrench.
- Vise grips.

Go take a pic of it if you have a Digi cam.
