With Hockey season right around the corner I think we need to get some offical picks in now. This will avoid the inevitable backtrack by Maple Leaf fans who will no doubt pick their team to make the playoffs only to be embarassed later and realize they haven't won anything in 50+ years and they are not the center of the universe....

J/K... Leafs fans will never realize this...

Anyway my picks:

West
Northwest Division (Hands down the most difficult in the NHL): Vancouver
Central: Nashville
Pacific: Anaheim
Wildcards: Calgary, San Jose, Detroit, Colorado, Edmonton

East
Atlantic: New Jersey
Northeast: Ottawa
Southeast: Carolina (only really good team in the East)
Wildcards: Rangers, Montreal, Buffalo, Florida, Philadelphia

Stanley Cup

Calgary (of course!) over Carolina (Cam Ward is good)

Alexander Ovechkin has to go number one I think...

 

I love vancouver, and i hope that luongo is a miracle. I dont' think he's worth 6M....and i've seen their team without their two top lines (not good at all - went ot a preseason game).

I don't hae any predictions for the time being, i'm just praying luongo is money and he doesn't pull a cloutier (althoguh i dislike cloutier and was happy to see him get hurt).

In other news, i hope phaneuf somehow delivers a career ending hit to staios. I realize they're both defensemen, and it's unlikely, but i can still hope. If vancouver can have a dream...so can i.

 

luongo is what the Canucks need for Goalie since Kirk Mclean left or whatever happend to him for the over all team its not there. Personally i think there just a Wild Card

 

Actually the Leafs haven't won a cup in 40 years. My pick this year is Calgary in the west, New Jersey in the East (as much as I hate em now a days) And either Calgary or San Jose to take the cup this season.
