That was actually by Airdrie, AB which is just 10 mins north of Calgary.

How is it that a province with half mountains (correct me if im wrong) manages to have Tornado's? Thought most tornado's needed flat ground.

Well by looking at the map it looks like we only have mountains to the west. We got hills sure, but thats it for the rest of the province that isnt on the BC border.

Oh also, If those are pics from Airdrie its more Central/Southern Alberta.

Judging from the height of the corn in one of those pictures this happened last summer during a crazy weather cell that come through in July/August time.

watching it on the satellite maps on the internet was wild, it was a wall of storm.
