the thing is they can spoof an email or run it through proxy servers that make it very difficult to trace down

Anyways, you got headers from the email (What email program are you using?)
This would at least give you a trail of where the message came from. The fact still remains that it could have been bounced off of x number of mail servers, making it almost untraceable, but until you see the headers, you can’t tell.

OK, so presuming you actually have the IP address that he had when he sent the mail (It may have been through a proxy etc..) and he still has that IP address right now...you usually have a couple options. One is more creative than the other, one also poses more legal challenges if caught. (but not by much)
1. Find a friend who works for the ISP
2. Get into his computer and find the goods [img]smile.gif[/img]
