Angry

these vets are worse than lawyers. back in the day you could take your pet in for minor surgery for a couple hundred, now its a couple thou.

a couple of years back my dog duke got sick. he was a rotti sheppard mix. he stopped eating for a couple of days and had a bad case of the runs and frequent vomitting. its tured out he had developed a mass in his abdominal area that was pushing on his intestines. i brought him into the vet and they wanted 3 grand to operate, but the kicker was the vet didn`t offer overnight care and he needed to be stabilized so i had to take him into an "overnight" clinic.
the visit cost me 700 for the night but they got him stabilized for the operation. when i took him back to the vet they didn`t feel the mass anymore and said it wasn`t necessary to operate. he stayed for the day under observation (another 400bucks) and back to the "overnight clinic". when i brought him in they examined him and the mass had appeared again. at this point i was irate about how these people were playing on my emotions and bleeding me dry. the stay for the night cost me another 400bucks.

the next day i went back to the vet and they concured with the clinic so they scheduled the operation again. after some thought i decided i could not afford the three thousand they wanted plus the fact that he would have to stay at the "overnight clinic" for a day or so while he recovered. all in total the cost could run into 6 grand. i pleaded with the vet to lower the cost to at least 2, but no dice "thats the price", she proclaimed.

after much thought i had to put my beloved duke to rest. they gave him an injection and he fell asleep in my arms. they charged my 120 bucks for the needle.

when he closed his eyes i told the vet that they are people with no morality.

i understand that they do good work to keep our pets healthy and free from sickness, but at what price.

after this experience i look at the veterinary industry in a different light.....

i phucking hate you all

Exclamation

Our cat recently became ill so off to the vet we went. Overnight stay, blood tests, find out the cat got into some antifreeze somewhere (where, I have NO idea) and they put him down. $410 please.

Damned shame, he was a great cat.

They do rape you. But, you have to consider, it takes like 2 years of school to be just a vet technican. And to be like a head vet, you need like double that. And people that go to school for that are doing it to get a good job and get paid well. So, it costs some good money for their services. The same thing could be said about how much health care for people costs.

My Grandma had cancer a few years back. After some tests and a few hospital stays and a few radiation treatments the insurance company had to dish out over 100,000 dollars. I saw the statement. And I'll tell you what... the stuff they did to her... didn't cost a flippin 100,000 dollars!

At any rate, yeah, you get raped by vets. But, they run clinics to make money. The jobs require school, and the people that take the jobs want to get paid well. If they weren't paid well nobody would be a vet and there would be nobody to take your pet to at all!

Big difference between the Vet and the Health Care System. Until it gets privatized anyways.
And four whole years of school to become a Head Vet? That ain't that long.
