I'm looking at creating a blog and am looking for ideas about good and very affordable web hosting for a poor University Student.

I know Yahoo, etc, offer website hosting, but I'm wondering what some of the other ones you have used were and how you would rate them?

Blogger I believe is free, unless you want to have more control over your site. Canaca.ca has decent prices, and you can get a .ca name there if you want. Dreamhost.com also has good prices, although they are American, so no .ca domains unless you transfer them over.

I ended up just creating a blog for now for free on WordPress. When I have more solid ideas, I'll invest in a domain name.

Since Zach doesn't much need this thread and it came up right around hte time we're looking at building a website for my company, i'll chime in a little more.

The domain hosting site from above the canadian one looks pretty good, $10/year is what we expected, the site hosting is alright too actually, but we'll probably just have ours forward to a shaw site right now, as our webpage won't be overly complex by any means - plus we're just starting out.


My question is in email address's. How does that work, if you get a domain can you then make your own email address? Or does that depend on the domain or what? Like if i take the domain scotty.ca (just an example) could i then make email addresses that we're like smellypiratehooker@scotty.ca or what all is required on that end of things????
