I understand them not wanting to warrenty abuse and I think if you broke you pay for it, I took 3rd gear out on my tranny screwing around and yeah I might have been able to get it covered, but I didn't I sucked it up and payed the 2600 bucks myself
but vioding the warrenty because you might be doing something that will hurt it is wrong
ford/dodge and chev have been voiding warrentee's on diesel trucks for such things as k&n air filters and guages, they site them as evidence that the owner may have had a fueling box on his/her truck, no proof of a box just proof one might have existed
total BS and sure you can most likely win if you take me to court to get your warrenty back (some have) but what the hell are you suposed to do when your making payments on a 40,000 dollar truck and it's sitting on the lot broken and you don't have money to fix it or get a lawer .........
it sucks and they know most people don't have the funds or the will to fight em and they bank on that
when the turbo went on my mom's jetta my mom had her warrenty denied because one of the oil changes was done by my dad (a mechanic BTW) and they said we had no proof he actually did it, just reciepts for the oil and filter. (this was Fada Guard extended warrenty BTW not VW's)
she was pissed and payed the 2000 dollar bil to have her car fixed , then she took fada Guard to court ........ as soon as they got the letter from the lawer they paid her ........ they were just hoping she'd pay and walk away...........

I agree with it 100%.. Your vehicle warranty covers your vehicle under normal use. any modification of performance that came with the vehicle factory installed is covered, everything aftermarket can effect your warranty, even a cold air intake can and will void a honda warranty.
In other words if your gonna play your gonna pay.
Plus the computers on the cars these days will give top speed / highest rpm rating etc etc..

I disagree, I don't think a cold air intake should legally void your warranty. That is total garbage, who needs a lawyer do the letter yourself for free.

You take it into a court room, and when the prosecuter askes you "Did you remove the stock factory installed intake and replace it with an aftermarket component?" your gonna say yes. Your screwed then because you have just altered an emmision standard device and the prosecuter is gonna burn you into the chair..
As i said its the dealership descretion..

Well that is bull .. I remember reading about this issue a couple years back and the general concensus was that manufacturer can't void your warranty if you installed an aftermarket car starter, stereo system, alternator, etc. I suppose I could see the performance issue, but that stinks. You replace your stock muffler and get denied all warranty from that point on? I'd like to see them prove your new performance muffler caused your water pump to leak.

Exactly, the Magnusson-Moss act. It only affects the U.S. though as no one has gobne to court in Canda over anything like that. If you add a coil over suspension and your motor blows the two are in no way related and they cannot void your warranty. Same with a cold air intake, unless it is what caused the problem (water entering the intake for example) they cannot deny warranty. I would like to see how Chrysler would handle that as they sell many performance parts like CAI, headers, cat back exhausts, performance chips etc right from the dealership for many of their cars.

Same thing i ran into with the Lincoln LS.. I want a 2 way FM pager alarm for it, I drove down to Red Ball Radio to enquire having it installed,, and there Installer Dave told me right away that installing an aftermarket car pager system on the lincoln may void the warranty on the ignition system, and to enquire with ford first.. So i then drove down to Fry ford and they were like yepp anything installed on the lincoln aftermarket regardless if its done by a certified installer or not can void the warranty on it. They would happily sell me a ford one for $700, which is a basic starter, no alarm, no 2way..
And to answer your Honda question I was just talking with one of the Mechanics (@ Tim Hortens)from west city honda here in belleville and he said yes it can void the power train warranty because it is making the engine create more horsepower then the car was designed to, if you really want to satisfy your needs call there corporate headquarters @ 1-888-9-honda-9 and inquire on new car warranty.
I understand your views fully and can understand why you disagree, but a warranty is written to both protect the customer and the manufacture. It protects the customer in the way that if something fails within a given timeframe which could be or caused by a factory defect it is then replaced at no charge to the customer. It protects the Manufacture by giving them the descretion whether they are going to repair the fault due to factory defect or not.
