Wierd "Popping" Noise from Computer Sub
#1
I've got this wierd popping noise coming out of the sub that I use with my computer. It only seems to happen when the music is fairly loud (maybe halfway or so)and its only on certain frequencies. Its just a sharp pop when the bass hits.
The sub is just some Dell speaker/sub combo. It says harman/kardon the sub. Anyway, I took it apart, and is a 5.25" Samsung speaker in a ported box. No idea what its tuned to.
Any idea what could be causing this sound? Loose connection somewhere inside somewhere maybe? My power outlets that things are plugged into also seem to 'flicker' sometimes, could this be a possibility?
Any input is appreciated.

turn it down!
lol i've had the same problem with my home stereo sub. Usually only when i have it ridiculously loud and it's try'n to play a rediculously low note. Not much you can do other than turn it down.

Mine does the same thing (Altec Lansing). It's probably actually the amp just clipping out. They're usually only good for 10-15 watts anyways, so you can't expect too much. If you want something that pounds, get your hands on one of those Logitech THX packages.

I dont think a bigger mid would fit into the enclosure. And I dont want to try and make a new one, since the enclosure has all the volume controls integrated into it, and a bunch of components on the inside.
