Hey I am going on tuesday to get my windows tinted. I was just wondering if anyone has 5% tint all around. I was thinking about getting that done, just wondering if you have had tickets, and if it is really hard to see out of etc.

Any input would be appreciated.

PS the guy will do 5% all around so that isn't a problem.

every cop is different. Some will pull you over some won't. IMO luck of the draw. the legal limit is what 15%? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

 

I had 50% yes, with a zero on my front doors and got an $81 fine here in BC, now sure what the laws are back there. had 35% on the rear three and 50% to cut some glare and for effect on the front doors. All depends on the officer. But that goes with most things.

 

35% in the front,

as dark as you want in the rear.

 

In Alberta, there is no tint allowed on any part of the side windows before the b-pillar. After the b-pillar, you can paint them black if you want.

People do get away with tint on their side windows, but police consider it a hazard. Not only to them, but to you as well.

Side glass in vehicles is made to shatter into really small pieces, and when tint is applied it creates an elastic effect with the glass. So, if your head breaks a side window, the glass with tint on will stretch out (ing the glass shards) then will slice you when it tries to resume its natural position.

Also a cop may try to give you a "failure to maintain vehicle equipment" which is worth about $140, when you can fight it for the lesser ticket of $80 for an actual "tint" ticket.

 

That just seems like bull to me. In most US states you are allowed to have some level of tint on drivers and front passenger windows.
I don't recommend 5% all the way around, even if you find a film that you can actually see not too badly out of cops will be on you like crazy. Usually 35% fronts with 5% rears or 20% all around is safe in Edmonton without being hassled. Keep in mind you will get a fine if your pulled over for another reason. I personally think 5% looks ghetto. I perfer 20% all the way.

 

Do these authorities not realize that its a safety feature to tint your windows as well or what [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

 

MAN I "WAS" going to get my windows done BUT not if this is the crap I have to deal with.
