I bought an x box dvd playback kit off ebay. NIB, still in original wrapping. I go to hook it up, the remote and yada work. SO I pop in a dvd, and it says please connect the dvd playback kit.

WTF

Has anyone had this happen to them before?

Pounder, I'd hope you would read this.

Thanks for the help. Think I'd be better off just buying a whole new dvd playback and keeping this one for parts?

Thanks for the links to those places. Gonna sign up and see if they can help me in any way.

That sucks. I hate X-Box for that. I mean seriously why in the hell can't you just put in a DVD and play it? I love how they make you buy a seperate kit for it.

I second what pounder said. Plugged in the sensor thingy and a DVD and it worked.

I still have mine for sale if you are interested. I know it works with mine.

I might have to charge an extra $5 to ship though because it has a wierd shape. Still, $30 Cdn shipped isn't bad I figure for a kit that has barely been used.

zut man..I would talk to the guy that sold it to you..theres no reason you should get a DOA dvd playback thing..maybe try it in a friends xbox first if you have a buddy with a box..maybe its just picky with your xbox..did you try putting the eye in different controller ports? I have mine in the 4 controller port so maybe check that out to see if it's just fussy with your #1 port..if the dvd playback doesn't work at all or in a buddy's xbox I would contact the seller and request a refund..if that doesn't pan out contact ebay directly..good luck man..

and really a 40 dollar dvd kit isn't much to ask considering you get alot with the xbox as an initial package..meaning a hard drive and ethernet port..i would rather pay 40$ for a dvd kit than spend several hundred on a hard drive and a ethernet adapter ala PS2..but thats just my opinion anyways..

It only cost me $35 total. I e-mailed the guy. In his aucvtion, the items are guaranteed not to be DOa on arrival. It also says he will provide a refund if the item is not working. I am awaiting his reply.

This soured my ebay experience for a while now. Support your stores!
