Xmas not the same...
#1
I've noticed over the last couple years I get less and less enthused with the idea of xmas coming...
Its become so commercialized, and repeatitive it just doesnt have any flare anymore....
In fact,I think its pretty safe to say I wont be celebrating it this year...I'm just gonna stay home and veg I think...
I know the true meaning of it all is the birth of the Lord Saviour Jesus Christ, but anymore there is little mention of this fact if at all.
Everybody stresses out about what to buy who and what xmas party they have tonight...Its just not as fun as it used to be...
Does anyone else feel this way?
And just so noone gets the idea I'm a scrooge or anything,I do most definatly wish all ya'll the best of the xmas season....to you...My friends....My online Car Audio Family!!Merry Christmas Everyone!

For myself, it's not a "religious" holiday, it's moreso about being with your family and spending quality time with them. Now that I live away from home for most of the year, I really enjoy coming back for Christmas and spending it with my family and friends.

ya I feel you...I used to look forward to chrismas 2 days after christmas past..and I remember putting out celery sticks for the riendeer and helping decorate the tree, it used to be all about family get to gethers and having fun. Now its marketed up the ying-yang and is pretty much just turning into a day for retail stores to look forward to getting lots of money...because its not near as cool/fun as it used to be.
for what its worth...MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas isnt the same yes, and it seems to get worse every year as ya get older.
Ive been tryin to keep the spirit within myself my family isnt to much help. Every so often they try to change the tradition from real tree to fake i will not let them get a fake one. I always go out with my dad to get it every year.
We used to get together with my moms side of the family every xmas eve till like 12-1am now we SOMETIMES go visit them till like 10pm and there's a bunch of little brats running around (they really are brats they're not like the normal kids that are adorable)
Christmas day my dads brother (my uncle) would come and visit, rarely even does that anymore.
Every year i watch all the tv christmas specials, taht hasn't failed but i have missed some of them And i might this year considering when i go home for xmas break im goin back to work at BK and manager loves to put me on nights. Which is sometimes ok considering I dont like working with the youngins. But it gets dangerous to drive home in the snow storm at 2am if its snowing.
No one's ever about the real spirit of it. It's always about who's getting who what for xmas.
And I always want it to at least snow on xmas morning so i can have that feeling... but the last 2 its just not snowed...

I am probably going to get flamed by saying this, but don't really care.
The comercialization of christmas has been a major design from the retail side of things. But I think that as a generation, we have changed. How many of you can actually say that the birth of Christ and the celebration of it actually comes into your minds while openeing your new iPod or Xbox? I think we are to blame moreso than the money hungry retailers. We are just simply feeding their pockets.
Retailers have been around for thousands of years, but its our generation that has decided that a heartfelt thoughtfull gift is less of an importance than the new bling bling, keeping up with the Jones's gigitry.
I feel bad that I simply can't afford to buy the type of gifts I want to for the people I love. I know they aren't "expecting" those type gifts, but I guess I am a little brainwashed with the whole marketing thing too. I wish we could get back to the days of celebrating family, life and truley peace on earth.
Wow that had to be one of the most sappiest posts I have written to date.

Very good point Fat however we are the retailers. THey just make these things more available to customers around the gift giving seasons to make money. (We as retailers = students employeed/everyday jobs)
But your right we have made it this way more than 'them' themselves.

Christmas is what you make it, plain and simple.
when my wife and I have children, we are going to try to shelter them from the commercialization of the most sacred of holidays to ever be assigned to an arbitrary date.
honestly, I don't care if I recieve anything this christmas, I can't even decide what I'd like, because I have everything that is important to me: a loving wife, good friends, and family who love and support me. If anyone needs any more than that to be happy, they are pathetic, shallow, and have no sense as to what is truly valuable in this life.
When you die are people going to say "he had the best car audio system in the world, and he was the greatest Xbox player who ever lived" or are they going to say "he was a pathetic loser who spent all his time and money on Xbox games and stereo gear, and then died alone"?
option number 2 is the one they're going to use.. like it or not!
To summarize: Jesus wasn't born on december 25th, it's an arbitrary date set up by the catholic church to compete with pagan solstice celebrations. My life wouldn't change one Iota if I didn't give or recieve anything this christmas; and anyone who will be disappointed when they don't get what they wanted is a pathetic loser.

retailers may have been out for thousands of years...but there is no way they could commercialize and market chrismas shopping as they do today because of new technology (tv..internet...radio...ect)
I do however agree that it is mostly our attitude and I will try harder this year to take more of a positive outlook on christmas.
