Where to put rent? That isn't deductible for tax purposes unless you have a home business or a proprietorship. What type of rent do you want to deduct, i.e what is the nature of the rent paid?

Wether business or not, you can dedcut part of your rent, have done it for the last 3-4 years or soo My wifes uncle is an accountant and does it for us, but I was playing around with ufile to see what it would give me back if I did it instead of him, but like I said can't find where to input the amount of rent I paid...

I am a chartered accountant and would challenge your statement that rent, whether business or not can be deducted. It has to relate to business of some sort. Any expense that is deductible has to have a corresponding source of income or a reasonable expectation of profit. That being said, it sounds to me like a home office business expense. I would try schedule 2124, statement of business income and expenses. There are other schedules too but since you didn't provide anymore information, I can't elaborate or give further guidance.

yeah I dunno lol, I am just gonna give the work to my wifes uncle he knows how the **** works lol... we've always deducted rent soo there's somewhere in there you can do it I was just trying it out just to see how easy/hard it was to do the taxes pretty easy when using the program... My mom has the QUickTax program so I might use that.. it has an area on it for putting in how much rent you paid in the previous year..... I need every deduction possible lol...

Perhaps that is where the confusion arises. I was under the assumption you were looking for a straight deduction. A deduction is different than a tax credit. I can't really help you on that one since I am not too familiar with Ontario provincial tax law.
