Your Most Negative Experience In Car Audio?
I didnt mean it like it sounds, perhaps??
I mean, if an esteemed installer such as DW was working on the car....hehe......unfortunately a lot of installers ego's outweigh their good sense.
What I meant was basically check over all work done, dont take anyone else's word for it, and be stubborn until you are happy with the job. If the installer, and ergo the shop, is halfway-decent, they will make it their job to make you happy with what you paid for.
Obviously this could be quite annoying if someone who had no clue acted in such a manner, but if you have a bit of knowledge, you can tell pretty quickly if an install has been done properly.

Ever.
My worst experince would have to be when I was convinced to by a free-air subwoofer. I was told that it was the better model. They gave me a box design to use (the same sales person who sold it to me) and then when the sub fried they told me it was my fault that the sub fried. They said that if they would have built the box it wouldn't have happened. Granted I did not know about free-air designed subs, nor did I fully understand box designs at that time.
guys....methinks you doth protest too much
I mean what my SECOND post says...
and hell, I worked in CS for a long time, and I can sympathize, but if I am going to hand over a car which generally would be worth 20 or 30 grand to someone I dont know, I would definitely be double checking everything they did to it with everything they SAID they did....
not to insult anyone's integrity, but you are judged as an industry, whether it is fair or not

Zutronius,

Since 99 i personally have had few major problems, but i do have two stories for you all! A few years back i seem to remember a clarion convertable catching fire due to resin mixed with too much hardner, mr. mackinnon would know of what i speak (no it wasn't him). Also i know a gentle man who was with 13 years experience and started a new job in b.c. ( so he was nervous) He was told to put 6.5s in the panels of a i believe mg. These panels were factory leather wrapped of course. So he grabbed the hole saw in a drill and proceeded to drill forward (golden rule start in reverse to break the surface) catching the material and pulled half of it off with the customer standing there watching, ouch!

On a side note, Zut, people are making huge leaps in combating stutter problems. Have you heard of speak easy?
