Best rock guitar player... ???? and WHY?
_____________
CHOICES
_____________

1. Jimmy Hendricks
2. Dimebag Darrell
3. Dave Mustane (Before the accident)
4. Zakk Wylde
5. Jimmy Page
6. Randy Roads
7. Tony Iommi
8. Brian May
9. Kirk Hammett
10.Joe Satriani
11.Steve Vai
12. or SOMEONE ELSE

_______________________

My pick is Zakk Wylde...because he is probably the most versitile guitar player I've ever heard. He can jam to acoustic, B.L.S , classical, southern rock , and even Keep OZZY able to keep rockin' an OZZFEST year after yr.

Also, he records every instrument (Except the drums) on his Black Label Society stuff. That's pretty amazing.

Don't stone me BUT,
I think he kicks the S--T out of Randy Roads too.

ME!
j/k

I think technically Yngwie Malmsteen is the best player. Download the short video "arpeggios from hell" of Kazaa and see for yourself. Runner up is John Petrucci of Dream Theatre. He is also a very versitile player.

As for pure brilliance and creativity, Hendrix for sure, Wylde, SRV. I also like John Mayer, he plays some interisting stuff on Acoustic.

Hendrix forsure, as B2B said, nobody will ever match him. Jimmy Page and Tony Iommi are both revolutionary as well. Can't believe Angus isn't on that list, his instrument is apart of him as well heh (and I have one just like it! ) John Petrucci is a madman when it comes to technical knowledge of the guitar and music in general. Dream Theatre and Liquid Tension Experiment are nuts. Kim Thayhil was/is always a personal favorite for his work with Soundgarden as well, wish he would have came back into the mix instead of Cornell. As for newer guitarists I love Adam Jones' work. He doesn't tear it up, but his guitar work adds so much to Tool's music. Another fav is Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age fame. I personally liked him alot better when he was with Kyuss as he didn't have to concentrate on singing and could play alot crazier ****...which he did

Cool

Wasn't Hendrix left handed and weren't there only right handed guitars available at the time or some such nonsense that he had to learn to play the guitar upsidedown, therefor having to learn everything himself, and basically backwards? Thought I heard this somewhere...
