I have a 300$ jvc deck 52x4 output sounds great in my mom's van with stock speakers.... I put one in my car, sounded good. I then replaced speakers for 5.5 in front with an almost no name foreign speaker (can't remember the name) sounded alright in another car, put premium 350 watt clarion 6x9" in the back, all wiring is good, install is about 7/10 as far as quality goes. having a problem with techno and metal music due to the range of heavy bass and high tones played too quickly together, it just distorts the music beyond recognition, what should i do to start trouble shooting?

 

Sounds like you need to lower the base setting on your deck or get an amp.

Deck power is about 20watts and can't power much really.

 

so a 300 watt 4 channel amp for 40$ would make a big difference?

 

im just trying to figure out if the speakers are overpowered or the deck is

 

find something that does 50watts RMS X 4 at 4ohms and you should be good.

 

The deck is underpowering the speakers, you are trying to get to much out of it. What you are hearing is cliping and distortion.
