Looking for a mobile music room...

Basically, i used to have a good setup to listen to music at home, now with the kids i cant listen to music at night. So i decided to replace the stock system in the minivan and use it as my music room. The only problem is that it sound awful! The low and high are OK but the mid are terrible (sound like it play in a can) if on the HU i lower the mid it partially fix the problem since i loose the vocal. What can i do to improve the SQ based on the equipment that i already have, i am willing to change the door speakers but should i go with 6x9 or 6,5?

Thanks

go with 6.5's. Also sound deaden that up....Or alternately, turn the minivan into a bedroom for the kids and l;sten to ur music in the house. That's what I would do.Put an alarm on it and u won't have to worry about sneaking out either...problem solved.

Try turning on the lowpass filter on the amp for the 6x9s. Set it at the max of 200hz.

Your stage will probably all collapse to one side cuz those dash mounted spots are nasty locations, but if it shapes up tonally, one can address that next.

the dash speakers are pointed badly but for the drivers side speaker just pry it forward a bit ( shouldnt hurt it ) and it should sound like it should. did it to mine and it sounds great ( for what ive got lmao )

The High pass for the door and dash is set to 125hz, ill build a bracket for the dash speaker to give them an angle. For the Dynamat should i go with the door kit or go crazy and add 100lbs of it to each door?

The more the better when it comes to deadening !

What you're aiming for is creating a sealed box for the door speaker.
