adding light to mpeg files

My digital camera does poorly when recording in any room....the movies always come out dark and you cannot make anything out...is there any way to add or brighten up the mpegs?

The rooms here aren't the best lit. I was just seeing if there was software for that purpose. ah well, guess the drunken armwrestling videos didn't turn out.
