abs light and brake light on my 99 cavalier

Any suggestions why my ABS light is on continuously as well as the Brake light?? The brakes feel normal, its just the damn lights are always on!! I thought initially the handbrake was hung up, but it's fine.

brake light = low brake fluid in the reservoir.
ABS light = bad sensor = $$$ $$$

check the switch at the brake pedal. its above a little plastic cover thats held in with one 8mm screw under the dash. it could've been knocked loose somehow.
and as for the abs light, check the fuse?

abs sensor could be a bunch of things. brign it to a shop and have teh computer read. it will tell you whats wrong. and if it isnt throwing any codes then its a wireing prob or the abs brain is done .

i have a 97 cavy and my abs light comes on . i just pulled the fuse and dealt with the light.

theres nothing worse then thinking you have abs and finding out its not working right. id rather be set on knowing i dont ahve it at al.

also you wont notice any difference in braking unless you do an emergency stop . speed up to 60km/h then plant the brake pedel to the floor. if abs is working youll know it.

service light could mean; low fluid, contaminated fluid, air in the system, electrical problem with brake switch,etc...Abs light needs to be scanned for possible problems with; wheel sensors, accumulator losing pressure, abs pump, computer etc...Has to be professionally serviced to have a chance of fixing it.

My mom had the same issue with her 2000. Both lights just kept coming on. The dealership "fixed it" then the problem just came back.

brake fluid fine

I topped up the brake fluid thinking it would fix the brake light issue with no luck. Still on!
