Alpine KCA-SC100 Problem

Here's the problem. I installed a CDA-9886 about a month ago, and just recently installed the KCA-SC100 and the Sirius Connect Vehicle Docking Kit the Sirius receiver I have is the Sportster 5. Everything went well in the install I used the power and ground off the deck wires for the SC100.

The sound is great and I have the replay feature, but the only problem is when I store an artist or a song in the memory, whenever I shut my vehicle off then turn it on the artists or songs I stored are no longer in the memory. I phoned Alpine they told me to phone Directed, phoned them they told me to phone Alpine. So now I am in a runaround the only thing I haven't tried is a different Sirius receiver. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have the power hooked up to the ignition lead, and it wants constant power to save the memory settings when the car is off. Which means as soon as you shut off the car the rec. loses power and the memory is cleared. Try hooking it up to the other power wire for the deck and see if that works. Is there just the 1 positive wire and ground? or is there 2 of them and 1 ground? Never dealt with sat b4 but thats what it sounds like to me.

I checked that right away. With the key out of the ignition I am getting a 12V read with the multi-meter.

Open and close the door and retest that wire, does it drop out right away or after 5 minutes for example?

It doesn't drop out it says there is 12V running through. I tapped into the same wire that is the 12v constant going to the deck, and there is no problem with the deck.

I have a similar problem with an ida-x305, kca-sc100 and sc-c1. Whenever I power the head unit off and back on the artist alerts are all cleared. Sometimes when I turn the power on the SIRIUS status stays at 'Searching' until I cycle the power, then it comes on right away.

I called Alpine and they mentioned they are aware of problems with the kca-sc100 and are working on a solution right now. The person I spoke with did not know if the solution would require replacing the kca-sc100 or another option.

Hey greerb,

This is a known issue with the SC100, hit or miss kind of thing. They have been working on different software versions for a bit. If it's under warranty, bring it back to where you bought it for another one.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Rino

So the other day, driving home from work I decided to just set alerts for any artist on any station... Elton John, Supertramp, lots of junk... Wouldn't you know it - those alerts stayed in memory! After cleaning up the garbage and setting alerts I wanted, they're staying stored now as well!

WTF?
