Too much bass on fronts
Too much bass on fronts
Ever since i got my Apline CDA-9887 Imprinted (last summer) its got too much bass on the front MidBass speakers. When I turn it up, I can smell coils cooking.
I can't adjust the crossover in the deck without turning off the Multi-EQ and starting from scratch. It sounds better with the Multi-EQ on, but definately too much Bass from the front speakers. Front components are active with a PG MX2 crossover. I don't have a HPF on the amps.
I'm wondeering if those little bassblocker caps would help?
Would that screw up the phasing?
It sounds like its got 40Hz up on the midbass, I'd like it to be 80Hz up.
Any ideas?

Adding a capacitor in series will help. If your mids are 4ohm, a 495 - 500uF cap will work for 80Hz.
May I suggest that you have your vehicle re-Imprinted. The system may have had the subwoofer volume/crossover turned on at the time... this will effect the midrange/woofer output of other speakers in the vehicle.
Typically the subwoofer x-over needs to be off (full range) and gained low to match the mids/highs etc. for good adjustment. If so desired after setup, the subwoofer x-over can be turned back on and gain tuned back up for your tastes.

hi all..i also had concern on this issue..currnetly i have one 4 channel amp which is 2 channel run for front mid and another 2 channel run for tweeter with passive Xover..i dont have rear spekers..1 monoblock running for Sub woofer..so, from the suggestion previously, it means that before start imprinting, the monoblock should be set to Full range instead of LPF?what about the Bass Boost gain? and sub sonic filter..should i turn off?..the 4 channel amp also need to turn to "full range"..please advice..hope your experiences can help me

On the right of your deck there should be a little buttont hat kinda looks ike this ))(( press it. go to HPF, then select 80 or 120, whichever you prefer. Then no tones under that will come out of your speakers, but will still play from your subs.
