I've hard different people talking about it, but they could never agree on what the acutal meaning was, so here goes:

1. Some people think that strapping is another word for grounding

2. Some people think that it actual refers to strapping down or addind additional bolts to an amp for security reasons.

As for myself, I don't think it means either of those 2 things, but that's what I've heard.

From the vague talk I hear on Termpro on strapping amps, it sounds like bridging 2 amps to one sub, via certain means. Otherwise, I'm in the dark.

Chadxton has it pretty much right..

I think the best way I can describe it is if you have a 2 channel amp you can bridge the channels to 1 mono channel..

If you take 2 mono amps, strap (bridge) the amps together and make 1 mono channel instead of 2

I hope that makes sence..

I'm not sure of specific's.. but from what ive seen only a few amps can do it and its essentially bridging two amps into one..

I think you gotta hook negative from one amp into other positive or neg i dunno..

but only certain amps do it.. but you might be able to get say an amp that does 300 X1 then strap it and get 600 X1 or something... guessing its just for spl and max power.. don't really see a practcal use for it..

I know Cadence latest RS amps are capable of being linked to double their output power.

From what I understand, it's connecting two amps together to put the output into one sub. You dont' physically connect the sub to both amps, you connect the sub to one amp, and connect that amp to the other amp using rca's.

Crossfire amps are strappable and they have a diagram of how it works. I would ask CarAudioGirl since the amp i bought off of her, i'm pretty sure she had strapped because it came set as a slave instead of master.
