looking for 6.5 convertible components

I am in need of a convertible set, I do not want to mount the tweeter in a different location.

Anyone have a good suggestion for as set that is under $300?

A pointsource speaker, hell yes, Eclipse makes a great speaker in this category and they are well below $300.00. I used to use them myself in my last vehicle. I would use them again and may indeed do just that.

Kicker RS series are a solid speaker under the $300 mark.

According to caraudiomag, there is much better in the price range, these are described as shrill and simbilant. I would look elsewhere.

I'll vote for the Kickers, also. 2 sets of RS in my Volvo. These speaker sound great, handle a good amount of power and feature selectable tweeter level. The SS series has an improved crossover. Both under $200USD The new QS series is close to $300

Ok guys thanks for the help! I am going to get the kick rs 6.5 set and mount the tweeter in the center of the mid.

It's too bad I cannot hear them before I buy them, but I know you guys speak the truth and won't tell me about shitty products.

I can only guess this kicker rs set is better than the energy 6.5?

And I also don't know if the woofer mounting depth would fit in my door without causing a problem (I am driving a '06 Corolla CE).

Consider an Italian brand called Dragster, very nice euro sound, very smooth to end and mid.

I dont mean to step on anyones toes here, I hate to disagree, but IMHO new Kicker components are terribly bad, even the top of the line. Huge problem aside from sound, cause there is no standard for sound quality as everyone hears differently, is that the Kickers are very very inefficient at 87db and on top of that they are paired up with rms ratings at around 100 wrms. I've ran Kicker RS years ago, and thought they were pretty bad, until I got my hands on something else, and then I realized Kickers were horrible. For $300 anything is better. If you spend $300 on Energy set, they should blow Kickers out of the water. Even bottom feeders from Eclipse or Energy will be better on every level. If you have time, it may be worth waiting and checking out the new upcoming coaxials Hybrid Audio Imagine. Other then that, I dont have any other suggestions as I never looked into convertable components and dont know whats out there. High-endish offerings in coaxials come from Focal,CDT, and DLS among other reputable companies, which come with separate crossovers much like the component sets only they are coaxial speakers, so it may be worth a while looking in that direction.

I recently had some surprising feedback that the Alpine TypeS components sound pretty good and they are a decent price. I plan on listening to a set myself today.
