Mp4 = m4a?
Mp4 = m4a?
This is a question for all your codec experts out there.
I'm shopping for a new head unit for my Van. I wanted something inexpensive with CD/DVD/USB/SD/iPod input and plays MP3 and AAC formats. (I'm not interested in video at all just audio playback) And I have a 1.5DIN GM slot.
I found a stereo that might fit the bill, the Boss BV6450: (~$100)

I'm just not sure if it plays my iTunes AAC's. The website says it plays MP4's. From my research, I understand MP4 is a container format, which could contain an audio stream in MP3 format, MP2, AAC and many others, so what does this mean?
According to Wiki, AAC is specified as Subpart 4 in Part 3 of the MPEG-4 standard.
My iTunes music is in .M4A files. Is that just the same as .MP4? Do I have to rename them to make them work? Where does one even get/make MP4 files? I'm totally confused.
