today i came across a set of components (clarion srp 1620m) got them for 60 bucks! brand new from a store. i already have a set of coaxials (polk audio 6.5" db series) so i am wondering are they going to sound any good together or do i have to stick to one brand

 

you don't have to stick to one brand. I haven't ever really been a fan of clarion though, so I dunno what they will sound like. Usually, you get what you pay for....

 

You always get what you pay for !!!! If you want components at a good price I have some MB Quarts listed in the classifieds, if that doesn't tickle your fancy look into getting some Mach5 audio 6.5" mids with the Tang Band 25mm ceramic dome tweets. Either way it will run ya around $200. There are dozens of combinations out there, but remember every retailer, manufacturer and middle man wants to make money. How much do you think those $60 drivers are worth?

 

these retail for 300 i just got a good deal on them since a car audio store burned down here a local liquidation store is selling their products for very cheap

The site says retail is $220 so most stores would sell for under $200 but whatever, they look the part especially the 3/4" silk dome. Break them in for a couple of hours gently then have a good listen and you be the judge of what is good sound. If you have younger ears you may enjoy a metal dome more, the fiberglass cone on the woofer could suggest quality, although at $200 I doubt it. I stick by my suggestions and what the other guy said about you get what you pay for. GL
