MTX 1501d vs. Orion 2500d
MTX 1501d vs. Orion 2500d
Hey guys.. just need some help with this one. I currently have an MTX 1501d and I can get a good deal on a orion 2500d. Right now the MTX is running 2 Kicker L7 12" @ 2ohm. And its not fully pushing them. The Orion can make the power I need at 2ohm.. even more @ 1ohm (for when I get my DD 9515g).
Really what I need to know is the quality difference between these two amps. Also anyone running a orion 2500d, what electrical (alt & bat's) are being used.
If it helps the car is a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with 0/1 ga. and a yellow top and the Big 3 has been done.
Thanks.

As far as quality goes they are both very stoutly made amps and can take plenty of abuse before smoking. They have both proven themselves as being strong performers time and again. Keep the voltage up and the Orion can go plenty low with no problems (daily 0.5 and burp lower)
The 2500D is going to pull 300a at full boogy so build your electrical accordingly.

im running an orion, that is also for sale...lol... im running it with a run of 0 awg front to back with 3 batteries in the trunk, stock alt right now(i belive its a 130 amp) no problems feeding it power. in the past ive ran 220+ amp alts to feed it, with same results... they are also good down to below 1 ohm. solid amps, would rather not get rid of this but i need more power, so what can ya do right?
and ill agree with hardworker, wen its at 1/2ohm and you burp em, your getting dimming. but on music i dont have a problem, wen they pull power they pull a lot, like 300 or more amps.
hope this helped

i ran mine at .38ohms for 6 months daily with no problems...and i run it between .5 and .7 daily now. i have never had a problem, and i havnt heard of any problems either. but then again, i dont run full power all day long, just every now and then to have some fun.
