Pioneer DEH-4900ib install

Hi, hoping someone can help.

Installing a Pioneer DEH-4900ib in my car. I have the wiring diagram, The unit has power, speakers are wired correctly, display is working, and shows that the unit is functioning properly in all modes.

EXCEPT, I have no sound of any kind from the speakers. I've replaced all speaker wiring with new, checked the fuses.

What am I missing?

I bought the Pioneer and had it installed at Circuit City in 2007. I removed stereo for complete interior redo two months ago. No problems before re-install.

Vehicle is a 1991 Ford Mustang GT convertible, with 5.0 V-8.
I'm not using the original factory speaker wiring, ran new sleeved speaker wire with new interior. Hope this helps!

You may possibly have a grounded speaker lead, go to the back of the deck and take a 9 volt battery and on each speaker lead touch the + speaker lead to the + lead on the battery then take the - lead and just tap the - lead on the battery this will cause the speaker to pop. Check every speaker individually and see if you get that pop. If you don't get the pop thats your problem. If they all pop the output on the deck may be shot.

THANKS, for the help!

I'll test leads tomorrow.
Quick question-- If it is the output on the deck, is it possible or worth repair?

No, with how much decks cost these days its not worth the repair cost, which wil end up costing more then a what a new deck is worth.

Also, while you have the deck out of the dash, grab a small speaker and try it directly off the deck and see if you get sound then.

I have the same issue with my Kenwood (KDC-X659) deck in a 91 pontiac firefly. All the speakers are working, I tested them with a battery. But the weird thing is I don't think the output on the deck is shot because when I first installed it all the speakers worked!! Then as I was driving home they all shut off in the middle of a song. Could this be a grounding issue?
