Subwoofer Injuries

So I'm driving with a buddy of mine today and turn on some metal tunes. Some mad double kick actions occurs on one of the songs so my subs r just banging away super fast. My buddy then tells me that hard rock isn't meant for subwoofers and they will blow because of the quick bass beats.

Anyone know if this is true? I can't really see how faster bass can wreck them but then again I'm not an expert.

Thanks.

West

If it sounds like BS, smells like BS or looks like BS, it is generally BS.

thats what i thought. subwoofers are built to take lots of pressure and strain so i didn't really see where he was coming from.

Subs don't have feelings or preferences, and don't care what you throw on them - they just pound

well put live2ride !........ but in a really stupid way the guy is making a sort of valid point.... but it has notihing to do with the fact that the sub can handle the quick movements of metal rock, but more to do with the fact if the enclosure is incorect for the driver and its requiring more power than the driver can handle, but really thats not a problem with the sub it has to do with the system as a whole, if its not tuned to do it then it would be like asking a teweeter to do 30hz znd well! lol

haha lol. yeah what is a faster beat essentially... its just a higher cycle.
so like rap = 30 hz, where rock may be 45+ hz on average.

if a sub could not beat fast nobody would be able to post high numbers at upwards of 50hz.
