Best car alarm setup
before purchasing all my new gear i feel that i should look into a decent alarm system to reuce the risk of losing all my gear to dumbass thives
so what do you all think is required for a secure but not overdone alarm system?
what sensors should be included? (shock, glass break, rock, motion, pin switches)
how much money should one spend on an alarm in porpotion to the amount of money in gear they want to protect (no need for a $1500 system to secure your CT deck)
whats your thoughts and opinions?

with every alarm I recommend the following
1.) hood pin & trunk pin
2.) shock sensor is standard
3.) door coverage is standard
4.) battery back up siren
5.) starter kill is normally standard
6.) light flash is normally standard
7.) glass break in hard top cars and radar in convertable cars
8.) install from a reputable shop that has a Government Certified Tech
now make the decision on what kind of alarm your looking for
1.) basic one way $199-399 depending on features
2.) two way pager $ 399-899 depending on features
3.) one way alarm starter $399-$999 depending on features
4.) two way alarm starter $499-$1199 depending on feature
these pirces are aproximate and I figured in installation as well
hope this helps
I wouldnt skimp on the alarm if your not going to go all the way with coverage then there is no point to having an alarm installed at all.

Vehicle Security
A good rule to follow (basic kinda depends on car but...) is the 40% rule
ie: if you put in a $1000 system in your ride, allow for $400 in security. Always go with an easy to use and understand system offers a real warranty through the manufacturer (clifford/DEI, Compustar etc) try to stay away from " Jim's car thingy that makes LOUD noise" at walmart!
just my $0.02

don't get yours installed by some guy in his driveway
my alarm/starter sort of works now, the starter don't work, marker lights flash four times and thats it, engine doesn't start
I had my alarm go off recently when I opened the door and I didn't arm it cause the remote was not with me. Had to push buttons under the dash to get it to shut off. When I shut the car off the electric locks don't open like they used to either
fingers crossed the system doesn't go **** up on me one day and prevents me from even starting the car
its a Direct Start system
