I don't totally agree with that. Just because you don't have competitors going to finals, doesn't mean there aren't enough for an association in Canada.

You could have plenty of competitors that just chose not to go for cost reasons.

And who says they have to be finals level competitors to join the spl league?

I didn't go to dbDrag finals... I wasn't even invited. Are you saying I wouldn't be worthy of competing?

It's not just the # of competitors that goto finals by any means. But it does tend to show the serious ones.

Let's just face it, right now Canada does not have the support for a Canadian Organization. There just isn't enough support from competitors, retailers, distributers and manufacturers.

I think that if we had our own competition league, somehting more like Usaci, or Iasca, with combined SQ and SPL, it would be very beneficial. The american organizations don't care about canada, we're just a little brother offshoot of their own industry. If we had our own leage/organization who was promoting canadian companies, and canadian competitors, I think that things could take off.

I'm pretty sure that we could get some free publicity from the CBC if it was all canadian.

I'm just very skeptical of this.. mainly because I've seen how much support (or how little) is given by most people..

I also wouldn't say the american organizations dont care about canada.. i've seen some pretty bold things they've done for us.. but at the same token we make up such a small % of thier competitors that of coarse why would they totally go out of thier way for us..

its a tough call on support from distributors and manufacturers... not to insult them...but unless they will see sales increase and profit from it in a huge way..most of them will not give you the time of day...look at what happened to SLAM JAM from the 90's... it quickly withered away, it was sponsored mainly by Audio Control and PG just to name a couple( if iI remember correctly TRENDS Electronics from the west was the sponsor )
also look at the FUTURE SHOP shows... where'd they go? bye bye... they're not an SPL specialty stre and dont sell the products to be competitive in SPL... so it didnt profit them..but cost them money to run those shows... now its over

100% agreed..so lets start making SPL babies..lol..so that the industry will be booming in aprox 16 years

anyways..besides that...what are WE gonna do about it?
right now as it stands to continue supporting the industry I need to find a better place to run shows... it's not fair to you guys to shut down early because of noise complaints... so I still have 5 shows left to do this year... if anyone in KW or area is willing to help we can get something going here
