As a new member I hope one thing could happen egos and history\past be checked at the door.
Reading the forums for iasca meca and usaci(im new there too) I see them talking about participation and moving the venues jointly.

What about jointly working with Car shows. I am just surprised they dont jointly run with the likes of say nopi, sport tuner, scc etc. If you can combine the reason for a draw you will get more people. I assume it has to do with profit sharing, but as a consumer I could come for both a show and to watch the sound-off competitions.

I am a member of the Ottawa Jeep Club and we have hosted what is known as the jeep jamboree. We get say 8k-10k to host the event (from Chrysler). Now for a 3 day event after land use paid, food, and any other costs for the event. We usually get about 100 each, which doesnt cover our costs for the time to drive down and make trails not including breakage I would say it is a losing venture for Chrysler, but those people buy offroad vehicles based on these events. I dont want to ramble on I just wanted to give an example in case anyone needs to see the big picture

dB Drag already host 3x shows at NOPI events and they have horrible turn outs. They only get in the range of 10-20 competitors at a 3x!!!

Yuli, I would be willing to pay the same as dB Drag Association which is about $50-$60 CDN a year. Plus the fees for each SPL shows...

there is strength in numbers if the guys
that have been doing it long enough and know there s#$t those are the ones i chose to run and be the govenering body over it all guys that go to world finals IASCA and Db Dragg and show them that spl is happening in Canada and i say we take rules from here and there add some of our own and make it fun and fair we should start small since most of the talking is from people here in Ontario we should start with an O.A.S.A legue fisrt than if it takes off or guys in other provences start out in thier areas we later join it all together every one knows some body that can help with this in one way or another so if we are all serious about it action is louder than words

chris u already know where i stand on this. we will talk more tomorow.

dave, the problem is that u cant simply take rules from here and there and mix them up. given set of rules are that organization's intelectual property, u cant just steal it.

a few of us have already talked to each other and i think we have a pretty interesting concept to create classes where mostly everyone with a regular small daily beater stereo would just equally competative.

I'd be willing to spend about 50 or so bucks on a membership for this canadian SPL league

I think it'd be fun as long as the classes were very similar to that of DB Drag or Iasca. If things were vastly different it might scare people away, especially the ones who already have a system up and running.

I know you are talking about rules and stuff being intellectual property but that can only go so far. I mean there isn't that many ways of limiting the number of woofers you have, either by #'s, sizes, square inches, so I think we have to be able to make up our own version that is similar.

I'm not an expert on the law, but it's like writing 2 novels on vampires. They are both the same idea, people die, blood and stuff but it's not plagerism.

I dunno how far off I am but the key point is that I am for a Canadian SPL league. I know I haven't done anythign in the competition circuit yet, but I'd be more than willing to help out where I could.

I own a Termlab so that might help with something.

Thanks,
Craig G

PS Chris B you have PM.

I think an ontario league would be a good idea to start, seeing as most of the interest is here in ontario. If other provinces had leagues as well, a national finals could be arranged between the leagues.

the main idea I have... being a in a situation WE WILL HAVE a league of our own... is to limit street classes with basically simmilar cone area rules that are in effect but with also a power limit in each class to make it fair to the guy thta doent have the money to spend on 4kw amps or multiple amps... you wanna play with the big boys you will play and spend the money because you can afford it... but how many newbies do you know that can affor to run 2 D3's or whatever amps on a pair of 12's ?
