hey guys, I'm back on this board as many people have requested I post on this subject.

IASCA is smaller than ever. It will take time to build the empire back to what it was and with the leadership and people behind IASCA, the empire will be bigger and better than always.

Paul's (IASCA Prez) initiative was to make his competition format the best, make it bulletproof before he decides to build back the number of people. You can't start to build unless u have the proper foundation. Paul has done this: made his competition format bulletproof. Look at the SQ rules and you'll see that other organizations are adopting some formats cuz it works well. A problem with IASCA past was that they change the rules too often and Paul has sworn to fix that by making the rulebook bulletproof and sticking to it: thats why we won't see any rulechanges for a while unless technology finds a loophole.

The next step for Paul is promotion/education. This will take effect come CES when Paul releases his rep program.

I do not have much time to type on here, but please feel free to email me any questions and concerns regarding IASCA and IASCA Canada. My email address is mbruno@kankar.com

Don't get me wrong, I don't think IASCA is the shiz as I attend all dBDrags and many people can vouch for that. I am out for the industry and this is why I do all my IASCA shiz for free.

On a side note, Moe Sabourin (sorry if I mispelled) is THE MAN. He deserves much more than he gets, trust me. I have kinda eased off the IASCA Canada thing this past year as I had to concentrate on my new business. Next year I will again be heavily involved with IASCA and I look for only great things and great strength in the IASCA lanes.

See ya all in the lanes!

PEACE

Thanks for the kind words Mark, it's great to see you back on the board !

Do I think Audiothunder's dropping of SQ will affect my shows ? No, not at all... this is only due to the fact that all you competitors that attend my shows are WITHOUT A DOUBT the most loyal, dedicated and determined group of people I have ever known and I am proud to support you all.

I do intend on having as many shows as I had last year and to support other dealers who wish to become IASCA retail members in hosting their events. This is why I have "semi retired" the Civic. My attempts to run shows AND compete (as well as running my shop and doing custom work) has put a tremendous tax on my time and something had to be put to the side.

Like Mark Bruno, my goal is to promote the competition industry as a whole, with IASCA being at the forefront, in order to increase exposure to the general public in regards to mobile electronics. Plans for my big annual show include having as many of the sanctioning orgs represented there as possible. This obviously includes IASCA and I have confirmation from a couple of dB Drag retailers who will host a dB Drag event as well, plus I have confirmation from Steve Stern at MECA (Mobile Electronics Competition Association) that they will host an event with us and I've spoken to both Ralph and Brendan at USAC to solicit their participation. Although I am still waiting for an answer from them, I feel confident that they will also participate.

If anything, the SQ shows that will take place over the course of this season will probably show other event promoters that it can be worthwhile to host events like this. With enough attendance, they'll be able to see that it can be financially feasible to warrant the return of SQ competitions to their events and car audio competitions will once again be at the level they should be at.

One thing I can say is that Mark Bruno, James Chevrette and myself will do what we have to do to see SQ and car audio competitions in general grow in Canada.

well that's good to hear Moe, I hope it all works out.

I'm especially pleased to hear that Audiothunder will not affect your shows this year, I'm pretty sure I emphasized that I LOVE going to your shows.

Moe Sab 12-16-2003 08:45 AM

I'm very happy to hear that Slingshot, I hope everyone that has attended my shows feels the same way... after all, the shows are for you guys & gals !

Can't wait for the snow to melt... c'mon springtime !

Dave MacKinnon 12-16-2003 11:13 AM

Moe-Man.. Make sure you let me know what your show schedule is. I'll see what I can do to help.

As for Audiothunder, I'll talk to Larry and see what we can do for next year.. No promises, but I'll try.

Moe Sab 12-18-2003 07:35 AM

Thanks Dave !

As soon as I have the schedule in place I'll email it to you. There will be minimum 5 IASCA SQ/IdBL shows at my shop in 2004 so we'll have a place to play all season !

I appreciate you talking to Larry for us, that would be awesome. And I understand there are no guarantees, but every little bit helps. If you could, make sure to mention to him that both myself and Mike Brandt have offered our services as IASCA certified judges to him at no cost for next year's show. That way, at least the cost will be somewhat less to him; a small price to pay to see the rebirth of IASCA at Audiothunder.

Happy Holidays !

I love everyone's enthusiasm, but I don't think judging shows for free is the key as it devalues the importantance of quality judges.

JohnVroom 12-18-2003 05:21 PM

It is more than Judges wages, the whole process costs money and how does IASCA, USACi, MECA make money? A lot of good stuff on this thread, write letters/ emails to the various competing agencies and give them your opinions. Encourage growth of competition and spend money on those that support your interests in SQ competition (dealers) join the organization, buy their CD’s. Oh yeah, show up to the event and compete!
