why is it if a store dosent drop its pants for the customer on price, they are a bad store to deal with.. i try to help the sales guys out all the time on this. they are so scared to loose a sale to price instead of selling the product on its merrits.. the deck retails for 299now its up to a good salesman to let you know why its worth 299.. not 279 not 249. 299.,. if we all thought this way our profit margins wouldnt be so bad and we would attract better salesmen and they would stay do to great income. to make this point even clearer...... when was the last time you went to the keg and argued about the price of the steak dinner you just ate,,, you know i can go down to mr. mikes and get a steak for 20% less.... dosent happen. or buying shoes at sport chek... 149,99 is the price.. no discounting.. its only in our industry do we do this.. is visions bad... no more so than any other retailer..part of my job is to teach people how to sell and this is, by far the biggest hurtel that salesman have to overcome.. value vs precevied value..

It's just not like it used to be. There used to be lots of good, educated sales staff and as things turned into a race to zero more good sales staff flee because they have to eat, therefore it turns more into a "best price is all that matters" game. It's a downward spiral. I used to be so proud to explain why we were among the highest remote start/combo pricing in the city, showing off a bay full of nice cars and experienced installers, who all had big Snap On chests.

yes but visions gaurantees the lowest price. If I can get it online for cheaper, I should be able to get it at visions cheaper too. I know that visions "cost" really isn't their cost. Because big box stores buy in bulk, their cost is usually a good chunk of change less then what they are telling you it is, or perhaps even telling their employees what it is.....

i don't mind paying what a product is worth, the issue i have is that i see regular prices in USA for much cheaper even though the CAN dollar is $1.04

^ There's other factors that play into that but yes I personally lean towards brands that are at least in the same neighborhood of US pricing (maybe 20% premium here)

Some brands are completely rediculous in this respect.

us to cnd pricing i cant contol that, things like nafta, and other trade agreements play a huge role in that. also its what the market will bear.. look at how long we got shafted on car prices, until 2008 we were getting hosed huge, the gap is still there but much smaller and hopefully will start to go the other way soon.. as far as electronics go. our free trade deal with overseas is not as lucrative as the us as they buy 100x more gear than imported to canada thats one reason the same gear in cnd vs usa, is different
