thinking of ways to put a sq system in my new bimmer... bloody hell, its fricken tiny and a convertable. so far this is the gear, pioneer 2-5/8 mids, pioneer prs720s, pioneer prs-t101 tweets, mtx flat 10inch, jl audio xd-600.6 and jl audio xd600.1 and ms-8. civic is just getting cosmetic upgrades, the sq part is just the way i like it and it scores very well, i just need more install points.. ps. i dont want to hear it Paul!!

I just bought another car to begin a new build with. This one will be a two seat SQ car.
I'm going to fill it with all Arc speakers, subs, amps & their new processor. I'll be using the iPad2 for my head unit with a digital out to the PS8 through balanced lines directly to the SE amps.
My whole system will be built into the front of the car, except for the amps.

you already have one ride that does very well at the local sq events. It would be cool to have you over on the dark side. Never know, you might like it better!! Mr Chevrette did. Found it much more challenging aswell.

I keep thinking about doing kicks in my car. Of course I could always just try to be happy with a decent system I already have and being to push the clutch to the floor and still have the foot rest. Tough call.

As for myself; I have a ton of work to do and no money to work with.
However, I was smart in one aspect and bought a lot of building supplies to work with last year.
So I do have a few dozen more 2x6's, little bit of mdf, 10 kg of sand, a few gallons of resin, two dozen cans of expanding foam, a gallon of wood glue, and 15 or 20 tubes of PL premium.
I suppose the plan is to build until I run out of material to build with.
I should be able to have the frame of the wall, the roof, and maybe the floor done with what I have.
Which would just leave the "easy" stuff
-mdf the inside of the wall
-glass the wheel wells in the box
-will start with a single woofer single amp setup until i get all 12 woofers for my tunnel design. So ill need to make an enclosure for that woofer aswell as a loading wall
-make door panels
-assemble and install motor
-mount and install windshield wipers
-finish up the airbag setup
-other small odds and ends that always pop up
Thats about all until I start buying gear:
Electrical- Need all new power wire, rcas, speaker wire. Will be running a 16 volt system with 2-4 HO alternators. Greater prefer to run XS power batteries but if the price is right for used Kinetiks then I'll have to go that route. Battery rack will be under the car to house some of the batts. When all is said and done Id like to run 12 batts.
Deadener-Probably go for a regular mat type since there are very very few surfaces which Ill need to deaden at all. Pretty much just doors (although the door panels will be 1" mdf at the minimum) and firewall. Id imagine the firewall is going to be the weakest point in this build so I may give it some special attention before putting the interior back in.
Front stage---unless I get a sponsorship of some sort Ill most certainly be going with PA gear. Still havent decided on my door layout yet. Id love to do a ton of midrange cone area, but its really never going to keep up with the bass anyway. Ill more than likely go with 4 6.5s and two supertweeters per door. Cheaper stuff like Pyle, Eminence, Selenium, or Dayton. Running active of course.
Front amplification- Unsure at the moment. Will be looking to give the mids around 500-800 watts per side and the tweets around 300-400 a side.
Processing- No idea where to start here. Although Id really like to run a DQSX
Woofers- My design is setup to eventually run 12 18s using the 4HP motor design and eclipse style baskets. A few companies have woofers based off of this motor. Soundstream xxx, T3 TSNS, TC Sounds LMS ultra, DC LV6, Audioque HDC4, B2 XC, CS MK1, Team RF etc
However, as I stated above, Ill probably end up just running a single woofer this year in order to get it playing and back in the scene having fun while I save for all the rest of the gear. Looking at a Warden 21, HDC4 18,
I wouldnt mind using the same tunnel design this season but only using a whole wack of cheaper 12s perhaps. But to be cost effective compared to one killer woofer....Id have to find one hell of a deal. I know it will fit 24 12s or 32 10s.
Sub Amplification- Probably run 2 big amps. SD25k, Stetsom 25k2E, SD16k, DC12k, CS ELT12, AB1100.1, etc. Or I also wouldnt mind running 8 or 12 of the old Memphis mojo 4kw's.
For the meantime with the single sub single woofer setup Ill pickup whichever is the best deal I can find. Once Im at that point.
Now...all thats left is everything.
