I'd sooner hire someone WILLING to work than someone CAPABLE of doing the work. Willing people can be trained, those with certificates think they know it all already.

If this was directed at me, I would like to reply with this.

Wouldn't it be better to have someone both WILLING AND CAPABLE? And as I had previousely mentioned, I was certified. Certification is only good for 4 yrs I think. I do not have the answer to everything audio related. I took the course to better understand the theory of car audio, as well as get some decent shop time in, to better what little skills I had. Asking questions from experenced vets in the industry and by doing it, are the only way to move up in the industry. No book or school can make you a master at it. It is more of a guidline to follow. I havn't been employed in the industry, but I still try to do the best I can, with what info I have learned.

So don't judge people without knowing them first. Just cause someone might have had the ambition to go and spend the money to improve their knowledge, doesn't mean they are know-it-alls.

I think what Eli47 was getting at is most newbies with a cert think they can play with the big boys right out of the gate. I have been certified in the past and frankly there is no weight behind it..but......I do beleive that there should be some kind of certification by the Gov. (this would make it easier to write tools off, just like a plumber or contractor). I always try to work with the new guys and show, NOT, tell them how and why we do things the way we do them. Hey Kin, if you want, send me your resume.....We are ALWAYS looking for Staff, I can look into setting you up closer to home.

That'd be sweet. I am not too picky as to where I am, as long as there is lots of work. I'll build it and send it to ya.

No it was not directed AT anyone. It's a statement I'm making, personally, not for the person I work for. OK??

Hey E, how are things going down there at SC? The last I heard you guys were down a Tech. Back up to speed? The reason I started this thread is to find out how other shops are looking at people with and without MECP. I know some shops are only interested in MECP and would probaly pass someone with years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years years and years and years and years and years and years and years of pro work.
