spl and sq aug 15th chilliwack

You guys should try a split show.
Have a class with low entry fee, maybe $5 a run, that is for people to pound their stuff and see what they hit. Maybe offer prizes by SPL achieved - something for 135, 140, 145, 150, etc. Someone used to give out decals with SPLs in increments, that was kind of cool. Since each car is now competing with itself, it doesn't matter who runs what.
Then have regular dBDrag or IDBL classes with more standard entry fees for the competitors.
This should let Joe Noob run for fun and Captain Blammo run for points..

well i very strongley agree with will but i for one may try there next show to see if they have actually taken everyones critisism into consideration and got there act together. but if its the same as the last one or close to it..i have a feeling 604 will be off the map. and be loosing alot of supports. there were wayy to many ppl at the last one that probally wont be back.alot of rookies that if that was there first show..will probally never compete again.. lets just all hope the next one is better.

I realize the show is a few weeks away , with that being said, do you guy's who have posted your input think they will have an answer to classes and format within enough time frame for us out of towners to plan for this show? I was at the Sept event last year at the mall in Chilliwack and for my first SPL event on the coast, I had a blast and met some good people.

he didnt say hes currently on vacation in the okanogan and just said he will make a list of classses when he gets home im sure hes gonna use the termlab and have db drag placement of the mic and usaci rules for the way the show is run

I think that the reason that IASCA, dbDrag, Usaci... all have VERY structured classes & rules is from experience. To keep everyone enthusiastic with the pace of the event, keeping it fair to all and allowing the host to show off their: shop, abilities & sense of competition is the mainstay for these things.
As an owner of a business, I find the bottom line to be EXTREMELY important. Putting on a show here & there costs way more than what I make, in the short term. I have found many who appreciate the effort imposed on us to promote car audio, send their friends, spend their money and perpetuate my shops spirit & healthy reputation. I need the structure of a sanctioned event to provide that.
I'm not saying it's the only way to work it, but that it's what works for me.
I would suggest that you have someone on the microphone to keep the crowd interested. It's made a massive impact on the shows that I go to. Making it fun, is usually more important than the size or amount of trophies.

The other half of the event is a standard dBDrag or IDBL event.

How does it leave the door open for sandbaggers? The unstructured part of the event doesn't have trophies or anything - just prizes for how loud you go, ie any car that hits 140 gets a tee-shirt, at 145 maybe a nice gift certificate somewhere or something, etc.

how about like norms show...everyone gets the same size trophy for every placing...
