upcoming shows..?

i'm new to the car audio scene in Canada.. i'm just trying to figure out when these shows are..anyone..??

Prolifik 02-09-2006 12:09 AM

depends on what kinda show u are lookin for? spl, sq or just like a show and shine type deally?

SPL one 02-09-2006 08:43 AM

Spl

I'm looking at SPL...back home (Trinidad) we had "crowd pleasers" which means the crowd decides right..they both play their music in turn ( 1 minute each....3 rounds)...and the crowd decides..by making alot of noise for the winner..i haven't heard of that in Canada...so i'm looking at SPL.....

Prolifik 02-09-2006 08:54 AM

u wont see that in canada, most spl systems are not even set up to play music period. lol im damn sure no one is gonna be ready to burn their $5000 + set up just to see a crowd clap, i kno i wouldnt.

i think what u are lookin for is 'bass race' where u play your music and your spl is avereged out on the meter.

shows should start popin up come March

SPL one 02-09-2006 09:11 AM

thnx

kool..thnx...well Trinidad its all about bragging rights...lol...just the name of being the louddest and well the trophy...but anyways hopefully i can find these shows...first year..i'm coming small..don't expect too much..:)....just wanting to make an impression...

Prolifik 02-09-2006 09:26 AM

i know what u talking about, i seen the car audio scene in west indies. u get braggin rights here as well but its kinda better i think b/c u get an official number to brag about

SPL one 02-09-2006 12:15 PM

competition?

thats true..i'm looking forward to the competitions here...what am i up against ..like what kinda power was in the outlaw competition last year.. 6000+ watts rms..? i'm just trying to figure out how loud i need to go...

Prolifik 02-09-2006 01:18 PM

there is no outlaw in Toronto or even canada really. it's all legal on dash

and yes you would need something like 3k rms of real power to come close to any trophies. (i got just over 6k and im the smallest class) but power is not even half of it. there are a few other things that you can buy or know how to make that can make u loud instead of getting a big amp, but that ofcourse depends on how dedicated u are and how bad u want to win.

SPL one 02-09-2006 03:55 PM

so true...

well its true that its not all about power....i've heard lots of power sound like lots of crap...sad but true...ohh 6K in the smallest class..wow..should be fun..lol..lets hope i can find a nice little class...far away from you guys..just for this year...lol

Prolifik 02-09-2006 04:53 PM

not sure what u mean by sounds like crap? its not about the sound at all. the system is playing for like 3 seconds tops just enough to get the meter to read the pressure..........when i daily drive i dont use all the amp power, like 1k rms is way more than enough. my competition amps stay in my closet untill the day of competition.

SPL one 02-09-2006 05:02 PM

enclosure

well i meant enclosure ...some people have 3000rms subs but they build an enclosure that makes it sound like a 1000rms sub...thats what i mean..well its obvious that the competition stuff isn't gonna come out til competition time...thats kinda given..unless you're in a much smaller class..and you're taking you're car in with like 1000rms..just for the heck of it..lol...

Prolifik 02-09-2006 07:47 PM

yah actual competitions are a few month away. we still work on our stuff and test almost thru out the whole year tho...

Ray 02-09-2006 08:00 PM

Welcome to CANADA SPL.
It is the coolest scene in CANADA.
You will need a load of power and you will need so good gear.
But when it comes down to it all we are all ther to have a good time, and help each other.
I do just over 150 dB and I have trouble keeping in the trophy race.
I hope to see you out this year.
If you are at ANY local shows you know who I am,As many people up in this area know me.

Ray 02-09-2006 08:01 PM

SPL ONE where are you located?

Prolifik 02-09-2006 08:44 PM

Ray why do i not know who u are?

SPL one 02-09-2006 09:01 PM

well i'm actually new..i'm officially starting next week..lol..as new as you can get...i'm in Scarborough...i'm looking to come out big...but i'm just trying to get my business started this year...next year is the big year...but i'm gonna do my best this year...i've been involved with car audio in Trinidad before..i'm looking to make a mark here..i'm happy to see everyone just having a good time..which is gr8...how about you guys..? location?cars? just so i know if i see it anywhere..

SPL one 02-10-2006 11:59 AM

i would love to get it...but its that DVC 0.5..it would've been easier with DVC 1.0ohm or even DVC 2ohm.....sorry man....
We are talking abt the DD9912 's aren't we..? just makin sure...

Prolifik 02-10-2006 12:29 PM

good subs, too bad they arent 10's

SPL one 02-10-2006 01:05 PM

i'm stil suprised that DD's are so hard to sell..i thought ppl would jump on deals because they're gr8 subs...

Prolifik 02-10-2006 01:42 PM

canadians are cheap. im gonna post a video in the spl section showing what i did with my DD's cause no one would buy them

Prolifik 02-10-2006 02:30 PM

SPL one 02-10-2006 04:14 PM

SPL one 02-10-2006 04:20 PM

hey yuli...question for you..do you know of any Coustic dealers..in this area..well eastern canada..?

Prolifik 02-10-2006 04:43 PM

sorry brah, i dont really deal with any dealers for any of my gear. wish i could help u out.

SPL one 02-10-2006 05:26 PM

thats kool..i was just wondering..i haven't heard anything about Coustic up here...i did however manage to find the crossfire dealer..and the DD dealer ;) ..but thats about it...any tips on any upcoming shows..?

Prolifik 02-10-2006 07:15 PM

tip #1: get some gear, find someone nice enough with a mic and start bulding and testing

next tip i will have to invoice u

SPL one 02-10-2006 07:58 PM

invoice me..?? not quite sure what that means...???forgive me if i'm a bit slow on canadian terms...i'm still alot Trini..lol...

SPL one 02-10-2006 08:02 PM

is there anywhere that i can buy a mic? instead of just finding someone who has one and kind enough to let me use it..

Prolifik 02-10-2006 08:08 PM

yah man. this is the official db drag mic

http://www.termpro.com/storefront/Page605.html

thats the one i got and most other guys around toronto that compete.

SPL one 02-10-2006 09:10 PM

is there any place in canada where i can get it or do we order it directly from the US?i hope i'm not pissing you off with all my questions...

Prolifik 02-10-2006 09:41 PM

lol nah man u not pissing me off. u are asking the right questions.

there are no dealers that sell that eqiupment due to a very small demand and such neiche market. the easiest and best way is to buy it directly from Termpro. IF you are lucky enough you MIGHT find a used one in the GTA but I HIGHLY doubt it as there are mabe like 4-5 of them tops in the whole city.

u could find an older version used tho, but i wouldnt suggest u buy it b/c it would be the old style mic and it would be way off. what u want is the pressure sensor, thats what this is, not an actual mic. regular mic style meters were dropped like 3 years ago, its all about the pressure sensor now.

JohnnyToronto 02-11-2006 09:22 PM

A little OT, but where ya from in Trinidad?

SPL one 02-12-2006 10:12 AM

Penal....know where that is...?

SPL one 02-12-2006 04:07 PM

hey Yuli i was going through the rules..and off course i know what a wall is but i don't know the technical classification of a wall..like what makes the difference between a wall and a big box in technical terms..

Atomic Bomb 02-12-2006 04:16 PM

A wall is any enclosure-or equipment mounted to the enclosure, that is above your front side window line-where the door and glass meet--anything above that is considered a wall!
Hope this helps

Prolifik 02-12-2006 05:18 PM

or anything that extends into the passanger compartment of your vehicle.

SPL one 02-12-2006 08:24 PM

so um..if i rip the backseat off a hatchbk civic..n i extent the box a bit..not straight up to the back of the driver's seat....n its well below that window/door line..would it still b considered as a wall.....oh ya..thnx for the help guys...

Prolifik 02-13-2006 09:06 AM

yah thats a wall
