Luke, go to the courthouse and file a small claims action against him. It is cheap to do and you will get that money back as well. The court will also recommend a process server to deliver the small claims action to him. If he fails to reply in the time set forth on the small claims action, it is a win for you. You can then take steps to enforce the actions including wage garnishee from his employer or his bank account. The court will also add in any charges for the process server and court ordered interest. If he fails to appear at the settlement conference (conveniently that will be held in your city and not his so that is abother $140 or so for ferry fees he will have to pay), there are further steps that the court may order taken. The steps are there, they take time and are easy to take but follow them and you will get the results that you are looking for. The police will not be involved in this as it is a civil matter, there is no point going to them. However, do not discount the court sending the sheriff to him for failure to appear or to serve future papers on him for non compliance. I am sure if this guy lives at home in moms basement, having the sheriff showing up on her doorstep is not the thing that she wants the neighbourhood to know about.... again the system takes time but it works. Had you started these steps months ago, you would be finished with it by now. Go to the courthouse tomorrow and start the action.

Plus you can always take snipits from this thread, where he basically admitted (without actually doing so) that there was nothing you could do about it. Proof of sending it to him plus comments in this thread alone could be all it takes to prove your case.

I dunno dood. from what I read, dustin had said he has full intentions of paying you back. I dunnoo what you're agreement between you two was, but things obviously went sideways somewhere along the way.

I saw full admission for accepting $$, and also full admission of paying it back. I've owed people $$ in the past, and when it comes down to it, surviving comes first, re-payment second.

I think it's obvious that dustin is trying to get his together, going back to school and such....If you really knew even half the this guys been thru in the last 3 or 4 years, then you might have a little compassion. I am sure after your million dollar lawsuit against the drunk that hit you, $1100 will seem like pennies.

I really don't want to discuss it any further, as I think this should be between you and dustin, and not the rest of the world.
