hehe Ironically I was just about to post the same sort of question...
5 bucks for a blinking LED light is great but does **** all if thieves actually break in to the vehicle (they're annoying too if they don't have a turn off switch once u put the battery in)...
sooooo I'm looking for the same thing a cheap *** alarm hopefully under 100 bucks though that requires very little wiring ...all I want to be able to do is have a loud *** siren go off if somone actually gets into the car.
Thankx!
Sorry bud not tryin to rob yer post here...!

visons sells a black wodow for under 200, installed. It's what i put in my wife's car. I picked it up for cheaper cause installed it myself. and for what it is it's ok. sensor, four button remote, complete, and 1 year warranty. but i wouldn't put this one on a car that's of too much value, just a cheaper beater(like my wife's car)

^ Why not?
Really - what makes a "better" alarm? Ok - with the premise that the minimum level of acceptance is a shock sensor that works properly the only thing that drives up the cost of an alarm are the optional features it either comes with or the number of them you can add.
IMO an entry level Viper or Avital with shock, door pin connections, starter kill, and lightflash at $199 will give you all the protection a $500 alarm with shock, door pin connections, starter kill, and lightflash does.
Most of the time you pay more for more convenience, not more security. I would rather add trunk and hood pins, a backup battery, and an extra hidden siren to the basic unit if you want to spend additional cash..

Generally speaking they will have a lower price point model in most of the lines with the possible exception of Clifford.
I prefer A list brands such as any DEI, Ungo etc. to brands that can be purchased out of mail order ctatlogs.

what i was going for is the fact of it's reliable, not ithat's better for it's cost. This is based on personal use, not a statistic. So far for what i bought it for, its exceeded expectation. Great, cheap, reliable little alarm, for under 200 installed. I i didn't say it's the only one. I merely set it forth as an option for the thread starter. Choice i think is what they wanted. Word of mouth is what they got.

You pay a bit for a name, but you pay for what you get. I got an Alpine because It was a deal and I wanted it for a keychain. But it sets up awesome. It runs my power door locks, trunk, turns my head unit on and off, and turns my underbody neon on and off. The install is big too. Why put one in yourself if I can break in and unplug the brain in seconds. A good shop like Experts in Camrose will make it very hard to get to.
