compustar=garbage?

Has anyone else ran into this problem?
My landlord has a compustar remote start, now for the last 2+yrs he has never had a problem with it, until recently.
Just about a week ago now, it was working great and now it wont turn on his vehicle or lock the doors(basically non responsive) until your about 1" from the antenna. At first when I looked at it, I thought the fuse might have just popped under the dash and it was just not working, then I found that if you put the remote on the window, it works fine. lol. So I suggested he change the battery, he did, $25 later(expensive lil battery) still same range, it will only work when fob is touching the windshield. now I changed the ground spot recently and same results(I read on another forum that the grounds are a direct problem). Any other thoughts OTHER THEN GET A NEW ALARM? lol

Do both of his remotes respond the same? If not, then a remote needs to be changed. If so, then the antenna is buggared and requires replacement. They have a lifetime warranty on everything but the remotes, therefore Compustar=awesome!

yes, both remotes, and when he contacted futureshop they said he needs to purchase a new alarm/starter setup, so needless to say he was a lil concerned.
so does he just need to contact someone OTHER then future shop to get a new antenna?(I thought it was the antenna at first as well)

If both remotes experience the same problem, then ya... I'd have to say antenna too. I know I had the same problem when I didn't connect my alarm antenna properly, and it fell out... had same problem, having to be real close for it to work.

well, the antenna has a blue led for the status built in, it works fine, and when you press the reset button on the antenna(which is built in) it works as well, just no reception what so ever..oh well, I will get him to see a dealer(other then futureshit) and see whats going on?

The blue light is not an indicator that the antenna is working correctly. It just means that there is power & ground there.

FS has no clue...

Visions will offer you an extended warranty on the lifetime warranty.

Independent shops rule!!!!

Is the rest of the vehicle working fine? No voltage issues?

I ask out of curiosity but it's most likely a bum antenna. It happens.
