Compustar Alarm Install manual (2W900FM-AS)
Recently I bought a compustar alarm, but didn't receive the install manual / only a "users" manual. The place I got it from isn't much help,
anyone have an account with compustar website? / or does anyone have the PDF of the installation guide
Thanks
Will

-I will never ever buy in Canada, too expensive.
I paid $180ish U.S. brand new/ shipped to a PO box in NY about 45 mins from my home
I no longer have connections in the industry, so the best possible price I could find in Ottawa was $300 + (plus tax)
$180 U.S. was about $200 Cad at the time, / $300 Cad locally + 15% tax = $345.
For $145 I'll drive to the border ($8 gas / $5 return toll) and pick it up.
On another note, I recently bought a brand new headunit from the Net (U.S.) and paid $400ish U.S. , the same headunit is about $759 Cad + 15% tax
-Too the member who posted the link - thank you very much

I find it interesting that you would rather save 100 bucks, and get zero support, and ZERO warranty, and will "never buy Canadian" because it's too expensive, but you have absolutely no problem asking other fellow Canadians, albeit canadian business owners to help you out where your US supplier will not...
One thing is for sure, if you're 'smart' enough to save yourself 100 bucks, you should be smart enough to find your own information...

Here are the savings I’ve realized by buying in the U.S.
Alarm saved $150ish Cad
Headunit saved $325 ish Cad
Component Sets (2) saved $500 ish Cad
On just 4 items I saved approx $1000 Cad!!!!
: edit: (I forgot I also bought a sub in early 2005 for $125 U.S. shipped / that was selling retail for $369 Cad + tax)
If someone from this site is able to compete with the prices I can get online in the U.S. than of course I’d be more than happy to make all my future purchases through connections here. But as long as I can save 40% or more by buying in the U.S. I will do so. U.S. business owners seem to be a lot more aggressive / most of the Canadian businesses I deal with (here in Ottawa) make it seem like they are doing me a favor to take $10 off a $760 purchase. One shop alone could have had the sum of my purchases (they carry all the brands I bought).
As for not being supported by members of this board because I don’t buy ANYTHING in Canada?. Heres my response
-1995/1996 I was the only Competitor representing Canada at several events in the NorthEastern U.S. (Burlington VT / Long-Island N.Y. / Laconia NH )
-1997 I was one of a very few # of Canadians to take judges training / certification
-1999 I was one of a very few # of Canadians to attend the World finals in Greenville
I can appreciate that this site is “CanadianCarAudio”, I have always represented Canada very well at comps wherever I was.
Again, thanks for the feedback

Doesn't the american version of this system only get about 3000ft?
I use one of those combo's and I like it, it works well, so I sell lots of them. But anyone here would be lying if they said they never have a unit with a 2 way remote or antenna that is dead, brand new out of the box.
You may be in for some hassle.

I totally agree – you are 100% right and that’s a risk/gamble that I take when I buy online through the U.S.
I know this isn’t the best argument but look at it this way / even if it is a dud I can still buy a second one (again through the U.S.) for about what I would have paid for just one unit in Canada.
The biggest frustration for me is that in the U.S. all you have to do is perform a google search and you’ll find 1000 different retailers willing to sell at deep discount.
Here in Ottawa, and Montreal and Toronto as well. Its like pulling teeth to get someone to give you 15% off.
I work hard for my money, I don’t have an awful lot of disposable income so if I have the opportunity to save a substantial amount of money than I will.
You are totally right in saying that I could get burned (I really hope it doesn’t happen but in the meantime I’ll continue to take that risk)
