Door Alarm Led's

Ive recently installed led's into my upper door cards. In the "factory" location of some cars, my main question is .. is it possible to tap into either the factory "security" light in the guage cluster so all three lights are syncronized, or.. possibly into the wiring harness at the back of the cluster ? I know i have the option of the flashing led's that are live when ignition is off, but Id like to have them sync if possible . any ideas ? ~ Nelson

easy wire up a relay, so that the factory security LED engergizes the coil, and the gives power to all the other led's to blink together...

Might not be quite that easy.

You'll need to measure the ins and outs of the security light....is it 3 volts or 12, + or -.

A standard relay coil draws 150-200mA.....Leds 15-25mA.

You may find that it's better to wire in the LED's directly, or through resistors, rather than put the load of a relay to drain your battery.

I would much rather wire directly into the factory light.. My only problem is, its a small diode mounted directly onto a circuit board, leaving me nothing to solder to. Ive allready installed my led's with resistors so I dont think power would be an issue. Just gotta find that power. =\ ~Nelson
Maybe Possible to tap into the harness somehow ??
