^ And about two dozen people a year in the Vancouver area are stabbed with everything from knives to screwdrivers for thinking just like you. Not to mention that the dude had to break into the car with something like, oh, a tire iron..
Take a 6" phillips to a lung and you'll feel the consequences right away
The thief does this ALL the time - he is prepared for confrontation. Plus most are willing to do pretty much anything to get away from anyone confronting them - they have little to lose.
Don't be a hero.

So I rather have the pager alarm, be Super-Man when it goes off scare the **** out of the thief, maybe give him\her a shot in the mouth depending on what damage has been done and then go on with my day and fix\replace what needs to be done...
oh and if you are in a meeting\interview you just excuse your self...

I laugh because I have suprized the bastards that were in my truck about 4 years ago. I slammed the door on the one guys leg and broke it. I did have charges put against me but as soon as it got to court the judge dropped them. I didnt press charges against the kids cause I was a little bugger at one time too and was caught and had the crap beat out of me too!
You have to think like the thief in this case...Yes if was me I would have destroyed the interior of the car but I wouldnt press charges cause that would mean I was caught doing something I shouldnt have been doing in the first place. But as the owner of the same car I would feel great with the knowledge that I screwed up the buggers hand ..real good to I would hope.. I would then collect on insurence but be happy that I was the cause of extreme discomfort to the bugger that was trying to get my stuff in the first place!

I understand the "Don't Be a Hero" thing. But not wanting to know your misfourtane is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I think most theives would probably take off running with whatever they have in their arms. I'd be most likely to phone the cops the second I see a red light come up on my pager, Like if my door is open. I do recommend a good alarm but I also recommend insurance on your system. You won't be losing as much.

I had a customer in Mississauga who put fish hooks on the bottom edge of his sub box. He heard a guy screamin one night and called the cops! When they got there the cops literally pulled his hands off the hooks ouch! The best part is no charges were laid against him!

If your scared of confronting a thief or being a "hero" then you deserve to have your **** stolen. I would love to have a pager alarm. I had my whole system stolen along with over 100 cd's plus a diskman stolen. If I had a pager remote and it was going off I would be outside as fast as I could to welcome any kind of encounter with the theif. I don't care if he has a knife or screw driver. He's going to get what is coming to him from my louisville slugger.

Lousville TPS security represent!! I have a pager alarm too and it's great! It gives me a valid excuse to knock somebody out. Treat others as you want to be treated and everything will work out fine...if not---then you'll be very happy about our socialized medical policy
