I am in the process of hard wiring my radar detector into my car and i am in need of a switch.

I know what kind of switch i would like but i am unsure if its available.

The smartcord for the Passport series radar detectors has a mute function. I would like to relocated the switch when i hardwire the detector. Now to find a N.O. switch is cake. They are a dime a dozen all over the place.

What i would like is a N.O. switch that has a LED in it. OR perhaps two LED's of different color (red/green). The LED(s) must be independant of the switch.

This way i can wire the Status On green LED and the Alarm Red LED to the LED's in the switch.

I would like the switch to fit in a 1/2" dia hole or a 1/2"x1/2" square hole. If anyone knows where i can get one, or if someone has one they want to sell i would be very greatfull!

If anyone wants to do something like this as well attached is the schematic for the smart cord. This is for the 8500, but i am sure its the same for all of the smart cords in the lineup.

 

ebay is probably your best bet. Might take a bit of searching though.
