Need help with alarm wiring
I own a 1999 Ford Windstar. In trying to install the door pin trigger for my alarm the wire is suppose to be installed to a brown/pink wire (dome light) located in the rear passenger D pillar at the rear control module. I used a diode as I've done this type of stuff many times and the alarm still goes off every 30 minutes for nothing. I know that it is due to my stupid vans battery saver crap. I was told that using the diode would stop this false alarm from happening. So I switched and attempted to intercept every individual door input at the front control module, isolated them with diodes and now when the door is closed it thinks that it's open and vice versa. Man it's driving me crazy. I just took my system out for upgrades so I'd like to get this fixed before reinstalling.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Ya, thanks, I think they were where I got the diode and color of wire to intercept. Unfortunately it still goes off even though I wired exactly as they said. For some reason the diode gets hot too, forgot to mention that, possibly there is something wrong with the vehicle wiring. I used the recommended diode and one 5 times larger and it still gets hot when the doors are open.

Wow, thanks KayJayf. I have this info from Alldata, but it's still good for people who may have this problem later to read.
This is the part that applies:
DOOR PIN brown/pink - passenger d pillar Notes: A diode must be placed in-line on this wire to avoid falsing problems. Cut the wire and put the cathode side away from the dome light, then tie the door trigger input on the cathode side on the brown/pink. On models with the puddle lamps on the doors, can also use orange/white in a 20 pin plug at the FEM for door trigger. DO NOT USE THE ORANGE/WHITE FOR DOME LIGHT SUPERVISION.
I don't have puddle lamps, so that's out of the question. I've done everything listed here. I even got the exact diode part number, installed it properly, and it gets super hot with the door open, and will still trigger false alarms every 30 minutes on the minute... I even switched diodes several times till I was at 5 times larger, 1 amp to 5 amps still gets hot!
Any idea why the diode might be getting hot?
