Hey everyone, just picked up a 98 Toyota Tacoma with manual locks which came with a black rectangular remote with two buttons on it.. previous owner informed me that I have to press button 1 before turning the key to start the vehicle.

My problem is that when I try to start the vehicle with the remote by pressing button two. Nothing happens, no blinking lights. I have checked the fuses for the unit and also the hood pin which seems to be OK. Can you guys suggest anything else I should check? Living in Canada and having to run out to start the vehicle in -25 weather is brutal.
