Hey guys,
Just finished an install recently and having trouble with one amp not getting power or signal all the time. Here is what i got done!

dvd head unit double din
front infinity kappa components installed in doors
rear speaker factory running off deck as fillers
2 - 8" infinity subs under rear seat in sealed box.
1 kicker 2 channel amp to run components
1 infinity mono amp to run two subs in 2 ohms

All wiring is done up to spec with distribution block to split power to both amps. they are both grounded within 8 inches seperately to body. When i first installed the system it worked great for a day. then front speakers stopped working and light went off the kicker amp. then after tinkering with the wires, rca's and insuring good grounds it worked again for about ten minutes then they gave out again.....

Any thoughts on causes?

Unhook the speakers and see if the amp comes back on consitently. If so, reconnect one side only and see if it stays on. Then do the other side alone and see. One side may have a short in the wire putting the amp in protect.

ok. Ill try that tomorrow! My sub amp seems to cut out as well once and a while, if runinng for a while, i obviously got some issues somewhere!

if it was a short or whatever the amp would not completelly shut off.

Agreed it is a power issue of some sort if the amp is fully shutting down.

I am kinda thinking you should look at your ground as well. Grounded to body yes, but did you clean away the paint before you screwed to the body? Did you use more then one screw to ensure that the ring lug cannot turn which can make an amplifier do funny things.

and for the amp that shuts down after some play time it is probably a heat issue. Either to low of an impedance for the amp or you have it stuffed somewhere that the heatsink cannot properly dissipate the heat.

I agree! I Believe it is a power issue as well. I will try running a new remote wire tomorrow and see what happens. The amps are located behind my back seat in my truck, there is not alot of room there but there is some, i believe enough for it to cool. Let you know if the new remote wire helps, and the grounds are good, i made sure there is no paint around the ground points.
