Question 2004 kicker solo-baric l7 10 sub repair

I have a 2004 kicker solo baric L7 10" subwoofer my spider was damaged so I am replacing it. I have found out that I can't remove the sound coil without damaging the cone. So is it possible to cut a slit into the spider to fit it over the 53mm diameter of the sound coil to then reinforce the slit with glue or perhaps to then glue on another spider to the other one to fully reinforce the slit around the 50 mm part of the coil to seal it. My question is ; will this work, if so will I lose quality?, is there a possibility of damaging my amp running the sub? Otherwise ill have to buy a new one which I'd prefer not to. According to other speaker repair guys deam this sub is unrepairable which i believe can be proven wrong.

so by damaging my amp would this means that the sound coil wont be moving correctly? Therefore damaging my amp or what do you think?
