it's the factory radio. Gm factory radio's are freakishly good when it comes to radio reception. I haven't seen an aftermarket HU that can match them. Then again you probably didn't buy and aftermarket HU for the radio did you? The aftermarket don't put money into AM/FM tuners, they put it into pre outs and internall amplifiers and 24 bit DAC converters for your cd's so you can listen to them as they where intended. It's worth the loss of radio reception in my opinion.

It might depend on the car. My car has a hidden RF amp on the antenna. And when i installed my aftermarket deck, radio sucked!
I bought an HD radio tuner, then i found out the interface didn't supply enough juice for the RF amp. It's under/above the roof panel for the rear window antenna. I gave it power from the HD tuner and now all is good!!
