Alpine deck freezing

My Alpine 7894 has started freezing lately. It's weird, the deck will power on and look like it's working but none of the buttons will work and nothing will play. If I leave it, sometimes it will start playing music after a while. Other times, I'll turn the car on, it will work and then I'll turn the car off, run into a store, come back to the car and it will be in "freeze" mode again. It's very hit and miss. I've cleaned the connectors on the faceplate but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I've also hit the reset button on the deck. Any one have any ideas or encountered this before? Or is my deck just finally dying of old age.

clean the contacts on the faceplate. and on the head unit. make sure the key is off, use some isopropyl alcohol and a qtip.. if you smoke alot of weed use a pencil eraser as well.
